MYOB Integrations and API: What You Can Automate

Key Takeaways

  • MYOB can automate invoice reminders, monthly unpaid invoice summaries and bank feed rules before you connect another app.
  • MYOB's marketplace advertised more than 350 third-party apps as at 21 October 2026, but each connector has its own rules about what syncs.
  • The MYOB Business API provides scoped read and write access to areas including sales, customer contacts and banking, using OAuth 2.0 authorisation.
  • Zoho Flow lists MYOB Business triggers and actions, but when I checked on 21 October 2026 I found no native MYOB app on Zapier or Make.
  • A custom MYOB workflow should prepare the proposed action, obtain human approval before posting or sending, and record the outcome.

Start with MYOB's own automation, then check an existing connector before commissioning a custom API integration. I would put the effort into the missing handoff: getting approved job information into an invoice, preparing a customer follow-up, or flagging a payment that needs checking. For the reminder options, see Truespeak's guide to invoice reminder software.

I checked each vendor page below on 21 October 2026.

What Does MYOB Automate on Its Own, Before You Connect Anything?

Smart Invoice Reminders send scheduled emails before, on or after an invoice's due date. As at 21 October 2026, MYOB documents up to five reminders with Friendly, Neutral, Firm or Urgent tones. Prepaid and Cash on delivery terms are excluded; AccountRight reminders require invoices emailed directly from AccountRight.

For setup details, see Truespeak's guide to automating invoice reminders in MYOB. I would check those settings before adding another reminder system.

MYOB also offers monthly unpaid invoice summaries. As documented on 21 October 2026, customers receive their list on the 3rd of each month, with a business notification on the 28th.

Bank feed rules can use transaction descriptions or amounts. Bill and invoice rules suggest matches to unpaid records. That gives you a useful approval point: MYOB suggests a match and a person checks it.

Which Apps Connect to MYOB, and What Do Those Connections Actually Sync?

The MYOB App Marketplace advertised more than 350 apps as at 21 October 2026. Listings included Shopify by Amaka, ezyCollect, SimPRO and Velixo Reports. MYOB says these apps are developed by third parties. A listing alone does not tell you which records move, in which direction, or when.

ServiceM8 makes those boundaries concrete. Its integration documentation lists support for MYOB Business Lite and Pro, plus AccountRight Plus and Premier. Its published sync rules, checked on 21 October 2026, explain the handoff:

Record or eventServiceM8 and MYOB behaviourWorkflow implication
Invoice approved in ServiceM8Invoice is sent to MYOB.Approval provides a built-in human check.
Invoice created in MYOBInvoice is not sent to ServiceM8.Choose where invoices originate.
Partial payment recorded in MYOBPartial payment is not synced to ServiceM8.Check MYOB before drafting a payment reminder.
Full payment received in MYOBInvoice is marked paid in ServiceM8.Distinguish partial payment from full settlement.
Client or material entered in ServiceM8Record goes to MYOB only with an invoice.Do not assume every new record immediately appears in MYOB.

I would read this sort of sync document before drawing the workflow. Otherwise, a reminder could be based on a status that does not include the customer's partial payment.

What Does the MYOB Business API Cover, and What Does a Developer Need to Get Access?

The MYOB Business API integrates with MYOB Business, AccountRight and Essentials. MYOB lists separate APIs for products including Acumatica and EXO, so identify the actual product before scoping the connection.

The developer getting-started process begins with signing up for API access, then registering an app to obtain an API Key and API Secret. MYOB also describes access to a sandbox company file for development.

Authorisation uses OAuth 2.0. MYOB instructs developers to request only the scopes their endpoints need. Access tokens expire and require refreshing, so maintaining the connection belongs in the operating plan.

The permission scopes separate areas such as sales, banking, purchases, inventory and contacts:

  • sme-sales covers reading and writing sales data, including quotes, invoices, customer payments and credit notes. Listed endpoints also support emailing invoices.
  • sme-banking covers banking data, with endpoints for spend money, receive money, transfers, statements and bank accounts.
  • The customer contact endpoint supports returning, creating, updating and deleting customer contacts.

Those permissions describe access, not permission to let an automation make accounting decisions. I would start with reading records and preparing proposed changes for approval.

Can You Use Zapier, Make, N8n or Zoho Flow with MYOB?

Zoho Flow lists a MYOB Business app with triggers including customer and service invoice creation or updates. Actions include creating a service invoice, recording a customer payment, emailing an invoice and fetching a service invoice, as at 21 October 2026.

When I checked on 21 October 2026, I found no native MYOB app on Zapier or Make, and Zapier's MYOB integrations page returned no listing. I would scope a Zapier or Make route as a custom API connection, subject to checking authorisation and the required operations.

No built-in MYOB node was found for n8n either. I would assess an HTTP Request workflow calling the MYOB API, with token refresh and failure handling included in the build.

For custom MYOB triggers, design scheduled checks for new or changed records. I found no webhook documentation in MYOB's developer docs. An incoming event from another system can start a workflow, but that does not establish that MYOB publishes the same events.

How Do You Build a MYOB Workflow with a Human Check Before Anything Posts or Sends?

For an overdue invoice workflow, I would use this sequence.

  1. Trigger: Run a scheduled check for invoices that meet the agreed overdue rules.
  2. Data: Gather the current invoice balance, payment history, customer details, relevant job information and recent correspondence.
  3. Draft: Prepare a reminder outside the sending step. Show the amount, recipient and reason for following up. For invoice creation, hold the proposed invoice details for approval before writing to MYOB.
  4. Approval: Have the owner or nominated staff member approve, edit or stop the action. Recheck payment status before an approved reminder sends.
  5. Record: Log the approval and outcome, update the relevant customer or CRM record, and flag failed syncs or uncertain balances for review.

The same method can start with a completed job or signed proposal. Truespeak's guide to connecting AI to accounting software explains the broader approach.

What Should Stay Manual in MYOB?

I would keep disputed invoices, uncertain bank matches, unusual credits and tax treatment with the person responsible for the books. A workflow can assemble the evidence and suggest the next step; a person should decide what gets posted.

Start with repeat transactions you can explain clearly. Where a connection cannot reliably carry the required information, keep the handoff manual. Truespeak's guide to AI and your existing software covers that decision.

Where Does Truespeak Fit Around MYOB?

For an Australian service business that wants automation designed, built and run around MYOB, with a person approving anything involving money, Truespeak is built for exactly that.

Truespeak designs, builds and then runs AI automation as a managed service for Australian small and medium service businesses, covering work such as invoice reminders, CRM upkeep and reporting. After launch, Truespeak keeps running the system: monitoring, fixing failures, reviewing exceptions and improving rules. Where a tool has no usable connection, that step stays manual.

I have built 25 working systems at Truespeak, after more than 20 years in commercial and e-commerce roles at Optus, Samsung and Nikon.

I would start by mapping one handoff and its approval point in a discovery call. Truespeak does not provide tax or financial advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does MYOB automate without another app?

MYOB offers scheduled Smart Invoice Reminders, monthly unpaid invoice summaries and bank feed rules. Bill and invoice rules suggest matches to unpaid records for a person to check.

What can the MYOB Business API read and write?

Depending on the authorised scopes and endpoints, the API supports sales records, customer contacts and banking data. Sales operations include quotes, invoices, customer payments and invoice emails.

Can I connect MYOB to Zapier?

When I checked on 21 October 2026, Zapier had no native MYOB app listing. A proposed Zapier workflow would need a custom API connection, including authorisation and token refresh.

Does ServiceM8 sync every MYOB invoice and payment?

No. ServiceM8 says approved ServiceM8 invoices go to MYOB, but invoices created in MYOB do not return to ServiceM8. Partial payments recorded in MYOB do not sync; full payment marks the invoice paid in ServiceM8.

How should a MYOB automation protect the books?

Gather the relevant records, prepare the proposed action, obtain human approval before posting or sending, and record the outcome. Keep uncertain matches, disputes and accounting decisions with the person responsible for the books.
