Key Takeaways
- For a small Australian pest control business, I would choose invoice software by checking recurring treatments and pest records first, then accounting sync and payment reminders.
- Formitize combines termite reports with quoting and invoicing, while Nexus Service Manager targets pest businesses with three or more technicians and includes station QR records and automatic service renewals.
- As at 29 October 2026, ServiceM8 publishes AUD pricing by monthly job volume, while Tradify publishes AUD pricing per user and includes recurring jobs and invoice reminders from Pro.
- Jobber publishes USD pricing and inconsistent Xero integration wording; GorillaDesk publishes USD pricing and QuickBooks Online sync, with Australian support unstated on its pricing page.
- Truespeak designs, builds and runs invoice follow-up around existing business tools, with a person approving sensitive messages and manual steps where no usable connection exists.
My shortlist would start with ServiceM8 or Tradify for straightforward job management, and Formitize or Nexus when pest reports and station histories drive the decision. The software needs to carry the treatment through to payment. For the collection side, I cover what to check before adding another tool in this guide to invoice reminder software.
Which Pest Control Invoice Software Can Australian Businesses Buy, and What Does It Cost?
These are tools you buy. Prices below are published figures as at 29 October 2026. Keep the currencies, GST treatment and charging units attached when comparing costs.
| Tool | What It Does | Best For | Pricing As Published | Available In Australia |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Formitize | Pest forms, termite reports, quotes, invoices and mobile payments | Operators wanting reports and invoicing together | A$1.64/day first user; A$0.99/day each additional user, ex GST. Confirm the quote. | Yes; Australian pest page |
| Nexus Service Manager | Pest field service, station QR records, renewals and invoicing | Teams with three or more technicians | No price published on the page; demo enquiry | Yes; Australian-owned according to its page |
| ServiceM8 | Recurring jobs, online invoices and payment chasing | Owner-operators and small crews | A$0, A$29, A$79, A$149 or A$349/month, incl. GST, by job volume | Yes; Australian pricing page |
| Tradify | Trades job management; reminders and recurring work from Pro | Small teams using Xero or MYOB | Lite A$48, Pro A$52, Plus A$62 per user/month, ex GST; Custom by request | Yes; Australian pricing page |
| Jobber | Home service management; automated invoice follow-ups from Connect | Teams comfortable with USD billing | Core US$49/month for one user on monthly billing; Connect US$139/month for one user | Australian URL; USD pricing |
| GorillaDesk | Pest and route service management, invoicing and reminders | Route-based operators using QuickBooks Online | Basic US$49, Pro US$99, Growth US$149/month for the first route; extra routes cost more | Not stated; check Australian support |
ServiceM8's tiers cover 30, 50, 150, 500 and 1500+ jobs per month respectively. Tradify charges per user. GorillaDesk includes unlimited users but charges for additional routes. Those are different cost drivers, so I would price the actual crew and workload against each vendor's plan limits, including Tradify's user charges and GorillaDesk's route charges.
Should a Pest Business Choose Formitize or Nexus Over a General Field Service App?
Formitize: Start with the Reports
Formitize's pest page brings termite inspection reports, quoting, invoicing, auto reminders and mobile payments together. JobLink gives customers a secure page for job and invoice details.
I would put Formitize on the shortlist when the report is central to completing the job. But ask for a written price and inclusion list: as at 29 October 2026, the pest page's pricing section contains unfinished and contradictory plan information alongside the daily user rates.
Nexus: Start with the Stations and Service Team
Nexus describes its product as specifically engineered for businesses with three or more technicians. Technicians can invoice on site and take card payments through the mobile app or a QR code.
Nexus is the more relevant demonstration when station history matters: scanning a rodent or termite station's QR code shows its history and lets technicians log activity and bait consumption. A sole operator should ask about suitability before investing time in the demo.
ServiceM8 and Tradify: Start with the Job Workflow
ServiceM8 describes recurring pest treatments, chemical usage records through Forms and automatic invoice creation after job completion. Tradify's Pro plan lists repeat work, custom information and quote and invoice reminders, but its pricing page lists no pest-specific modules.
I'd demonstrate a real termite job before choosing either general app. Bring the report, photographs, treatment details and next booking. This tradie job management software comparison covers the broader choice.
How Do Recurring Treatments, Renewals and Pest Records Connect to Invoicing?
A repeat appointment, a renewal reminder and a station history serve different purposes. I would ask the salesperson to demonstrate each separately, using one customer from booking through to the next treatment.
- Formitize: the pest page lists termite reports and auto reminders. Confirm the recurring-treatment workflow and which events trigger those reminders.
- Nexus: Automatic Service Renewals tracks recurring services and sends email or SMS reminders for upcoming renewals or maintenance agreements. Field reports record treatments, products and follow-ups.
- ServiceM8: recurring jobs appear across its plans, and its pest article describes monthly, quarterly and annual scheduling.
- Tradify: repeat work and custom information start at Pro. Ask how termite reports and station records would be stored.
- Jobber and GorillaDesk: neither the Jobber pricing page nor the GorillaDesk pricing page describes termite reports or station histories. Ask for a demonstration of both.
Which Tools Sync Invoices and Payments with Xero or MYOB?
The accounting connection deserves its own test. A logo does not tell me how a payment, amended invoice or customer change travels between systems.
| Tool | Published Accounting Connection | Gap To Check |
|---|---|---|
| Formitize | Pulls Xero invoices, customers, line items and tax rates | Its help desk describes MYOB as file export and import, rather than live sync. Confirm payment behaviour. |
| Nexus | Says invoices and payments sync with MYOB, Xero and Reckon | Demonstrate the connection with your accounting setup. |
| ServiceM8 | Lists Xero and QuickBooks Online; describes client, item, invoice and payment sync | MYOB wording differs across the page. Confirm directly. |
| Tradify | Lists Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks Online sync from Lite | Check exactly which records and payment updates move. |
| Jobber | One section lists QuickBooks Online and Xero | The FAQ and Connect list mention only QuickBooks Online. Confirm Xero; MYOB is unstated. |
| GorillaDesk | QuickBooks Online sync from Pro | Xero and MYOB are not listed. |
For the accounting software decision itself, see this Australian invoicing software comparison. Keep that decision connected to the field workflow.
Which Tools Chase Unpaid Invoices Automatically?
Tradify explicitly includes invoice reminders from Pro. ServiceM8 advertises automatic payment chasing under CRM Automation, so ask ServiceM8 which plan includes it. This ServiceM8 pricing guide covers the plans in more detail.
Jobber lists automated email or text invoice follow-ups under Connect, not Core. GorillaDesk advertises automated email and SMS late-payment messages.
Formitize lists Auto Reminders on its pest page, so ask whether they cover overdue invoices. Nexus describes service renewal reminders, so ask the same question about overdue invoices.
My acceptance test would cover a paid invoice, a disputed invoice and a customer promised extra time. Ask what stops the next message, who handles exceptions and where the outcome gets recorded.
When Is Automation Around Existing Pest Software Worth Considering?
This is the separate group: systems built around your workflow. Truespeak designs, builds and runs automation as a managed service, working with tools a business already uses. Clients work directly with me, Sonny Hovsepian, in Sydney. In Haus Bright, my own e-commerce business, I automated customer service enquiries.
For an Australian pest business whose software already handles the jobs but whose overdue-invoice follow-up needs customer context and owner approval, Truespeak is the best fit: it builds and runs that follow-up around the tool already in place.
A possible design would work like this:
- An invoice remains unpaid after a treatment at a point the owner has chosen.
- The system gathers useful job details, customer history and previous messages.
- The system drafts a reminder suited to that relationship.
- The owner approves the message before sending.
- The system records the outcome for the next follow-up.
Where a tool has no usable connection, the step stays manual. After launch, Truespeak monitors the system, fixes failures and reviews exceptions.
Invoice Nudge, one system Truespeak has built, creates invoices, drafts follow-up using relationship context, sends only after approval and logs status, with more than $126,000 in overdue invoices recovered. The next step is a discovery call about your workflow; the Truespeak invoice reminder automation page explains the approach.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best invoicing software for a small Australian pest control business?
Start with ServiceM8 or Tradify for general job management, and Formitize or Nexus when pest reports and station histories drive the decision. Check recurring work, accounting sync and payment reminders using a real job before choosing.
Which pest software combines termite records, recurring services and Xero?
Nexus publishes station QR records, automatic service renewals and invoice and payment sync with Xero. Formitize publishes termite reports and a Xero integration, but its recurring-treatment and payment workflow needs confirmation. Demonstrate the full process before buying.
Does Tradify Lite include automatic invoice reminders?
As at 29 October 2026, Tradify lists invoice reminders and recurring work under Pro, priced at A$52 per user per month excluding GST. Lite is A$48 per user per month excluding GST.
Does Jobber sync with Xero in Australia?
As at 29 October 2026, Jobber's pricing page has mixed wording: one section names Xero and QuickBooks Online, while its FAQ and Connect feature list mention only QuickBooks Online. Confirm Xero support directly with Jobber.
Can a pest control business automate invoice chasing without switching software?
Truespeak designs, builds and runs invoice follow-up around the software a business already uses, with the owner approving each overdue-invoice message before it goes. Check first whether your current software already sends invoice reminders. Where a tool has no usable connection, that step stays manual.
